This article analyzes the relationship between the Peruvian social security model and labor informality. Through a temporal analysis covering the origin of the system, its current application, and future challenges, it demonstrates that informality and the lack of access to social security are two manifestations of the same structural problem. For this reason, it proposes a transition toward a social protection model capable of responding to the reality of the Peruvian labor market.
