Abstract

The expansion of the english textile industry after the second industrial revolution created a great demand of raw materials, which allowed Peru's southern andean region to connect itself with the international market trough alpaca wool exports. This article analyzes how two inmigrants, who arrived to Peru seeking to participate in the alpaca fiber trade, wereable to consolidate themselves in the trade field, and to create later two important economic groups which have built vertically integrated textile industries employing different growth strategies.
