The financial reform in Peru

Since the end of1990, a complete reform of the Peruvian financial system has been taking place. This reform basically comprises a completely new legal framework and an improvement in the quality of supervision of the system's institutions. The article examines the economic context in which the process was initiated; describes the contents of the new regulations and presents the initial results of the reforms.
