Doctor María del Carmen Tovar illustrates us with a practical explanation about the natural mechanisms that every investor has to protect his investment; and analyzes the relevance of umbrella clauses in the Bilateral Investment Treaties. This is to determine when a breach of contract transcends the national levels and also becomes a violation of international law.
