This issue brings together a selection of nine articles that critically examine contemporary challenges related to the economy, governance, and social development in Argentina, Chile, and Peru. From the use of machine learning to estimate Peru’s monthly GDP to teacher development policies in Chile as an expression of neoliberalism, the articles explore topics such as the digital transformation of immigrant enterprises, accountability in cooperatives, community narratives during the pandemic, leftist economic ideas in times of crisis, institutional design in regional governments, and legislative dynamics in contexts of political fragmentation. In addition, the issue features the findings of a thought-provoking study on military intimacies and memories of Peru’s armed conflict, engaging in a dialogue between violence and the sexualities of veterans.
